Vertical tasting of Echézeaux
A newborn tradition
One year after the introductory tasting on Domaine de la Romanée Conti, we invite you to come join for the beginning of a cycle through which we wish to explore the historical estate terroirs in dedicated verticals.
This session will be devoted to the grand cru Echézeaux on over 60 years.
About Echézeaux at the DRC (average annual production 16’000 bottles)
Beneath the ochre slopes of Vosne-Romanée, where the Cistercians first bent their backs to the soil in the 13th century, lies Echézeaux — a Grand Cru whose soul is etched in stone and shaped by time.
Owned by the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti since 1898, its 4.67 hectares include the famed Les Poulaillères and a sliver of Clos Saint-Denis.
Since the monks of Saint-Vivant, this land has been cultivated with reverence, its thin topsoil yielding directly to limestone bedrock, a crucible that demands patience and rewards with precocious, elegant fruit.
DRC’s Echézeaux sings with its own voice — lighter, yet no less profound than Grands Echézeaux. Think bramble fruit kissed by wild herbs, a whisper of gaminess, and a silken texture that unfolds with time. Harvest often begins here, as the vines awaken earliest, a testament to its sun-drenched, drought-prone terroir. The domaine’s meticulous practices ensure each berry expresses its origin with purity.
Welcome to Zürich for an evening conjugating history, wine-making evolution, product aesthetics and climate change.
